Cú Chulainn is the ASD Special Class in Ballymakenny College
Cú Chulainn is the name of our class for students with autism in Ballymakenny College.and opened in September 2016. The positive impact it is having on our whole school is evident for all to see. In Cú Chulainn our ambition is to nurture and develop a community of life-long learners.
We aim to prepare our students with basic life skills and the social skills they need to equip help them make a successful transition into adulthood. We try to promote their independence and self-esteem in a safe, secure and fun learning environment where we can inspire each student to thrive, grow and achieve their highest potential in life. Cú Chulainn is equipped with facilities such as a kitchen, ipads and a multi-sensory room to help promote and meet the diverse needs of our students.
Our students are at the heart of our school and our new school website will allow us to showcase their work and the activities they are involved in so that we can celebrate their wonderful achievements together as a community.
RSE in Cú Chulainn
As part of Ballymakenny College RSE policy, Ballymakennny College is committed to teaching Relationship and Sexuality Education (RSE) for all students. In Cú Chulainn, RSE is delivered to students based on their emotional, social and cognitive ability to understand the content. Parental permission is given prior to delivery.
