At Ballymakenny College, we’ve introduced new tools and programs to help students take control of their learning and reach their full potential.
Athena Tracker
The Athena Tracker helps students monitor their progress in each subject and set personal goals. Using baseline data from the CAT 4 test and previous student results, it identifies when students might need extra support and alerts their teachers.
Students can log in to Athena Tracker, set target grades for each subject, and track their performance. This gives them ownership of their learning and helps them stay focused on improving throughout the year.
Study Skills Program
We’ve introduced a Study Skills program to teach students techniques like Dual Coding, Cornell Note-Taking, and Retrieval Practice. Each year group receives training on different study methods to help them find what works best for them. We will also host Study Skills Weeks in October and January to highlight the importance of independent study.
Exam Revision for 6th Years
6th-year students have access to Exam Revision, an online resource with tutorials, notes, and presentations to help them prepare for the Leaving Certificate. More details can be found at www.examrevision.ie.
