Start-Up Dates 2026/27

Friday 28 August 2026

08.30am – 10.45am

Students to meet Tutors and House Leaders in the Sports Hall at 8.30am.

Tuesday 1 September 2026

08.30am – 3.30pm

Normal classes resume.
Students may proceed directly to their base rooms from 8.15am onwards.

Important Information for Transition Year Students

💳 Transition Year Fee

The TY Deposit of €275 is due by 1 September 2026.

The remaining balance of €200 is due by 1 November 2026.

Payments should be made through VSware and can be paid by instalments. Please note that workshops, trips and activities are funded through the TY Fee. Students whose fees remain outstanding may not be permitted to participate in TY activities and trips.

💻 iPads

A working iPad is essential for Transition Year classes and portfolio work.

Students who are continuing to use their existing Ballymakenny College iPad do not need to take any action as the school will arrange for the MDM licence to be extended. This extension is included as part of the TY Fee.

💼 Work Experience

Students should prioritise securing work experience placements during the summer months.

Work Experience Dates:

Placement 1: 2–6 November 2026
Placement 2: 1–5 March 2027

Students are responsible for sourcing their own placements. Due to strong competition for placements locally, students are encouraged to begin making contact with employers as early as possible.

📚 Schoolbooks & Stationery

All students will benefit from the Free Schoolbooks Scheme.

Each TY student will receive a TY stationery pack during the start-up programme, including copies, hardbacks and pens. Additional requirements will be communicated by subject teachers during the school year.
