Ballymakenny College Transition Year Bonding Trip 2024
Please return your consent form to your tutor by Tuesday 3rd of September

Location: Greenhill YMCA, Newcastle, Co. Down, Northern Ireland http://www.greenhill-ymca.org/
Depart Ballymakenny College by bus at 08:30 on Wednesday 18th September 2024.
Return to Ballymakenny College by bus at approx. 14:00 on Friday 20th September 2024.
Activities: Deep Bouldering, High Initiatives, Climbing, Abseiling, Archery, Laser Tag, TRC, Zipline, Canoeing and Raft Building and Walking.
Currency: Pound Sterling (We recommend that you bring 20-30 pounds with you as we will walk into the town on one of the evenings)
Food: Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided by the centre.
Accommodation: Please send your groups to Jamie by the end of the week.
What to bring with you
This is the centre recommended clothing list for groups participating in activities during their visit. Bring clothes that you will not mind getting wet and muddy but will keep you warm. Please have your name on all your possessions.
We recommend the following are ESSENTIAL items;
- Spare trainers
- Spare pairs of warm socks
- Hand sanitizer
- 2 Complete changes of clothing at least
- 2 Spare jumpers or fleeces
- Hat and gloves
- A warm coat
- Towel
- Phone charger
If you already have comfortable walking boots or your own waterproof jacket and trousers, please bring them with you. However, they also have waterproof jackets and trousers on site for those that need to borrow any.
POLICIES AND GUIDELINES:
- No smoking cigarettes or electronic cigarettes on the trip
- The main building is locked at 23:00
- Quiet on site at 22:00.
- Litter should always be put in the bins provided.
ALCOHOL/DRUGS/SOLVENT ABUSE:
The YMCA fully maintains the policy that allows young people the freedom of
residentials without the danger of drugs, alcohol or solvent abuse. Please note that Greenhill is an alcohol and drug-free site for all visiting groups.
The School's Code of Behaviour is in place during this tour.
