Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) Summer Bulletin 2026/27

Welcome to our first Leaving Certificate Applied Summer Bulletin. Please review the important information below and download the LCA Bulletin and Academic Calendar for full details of the year ahead.

Start-Up Dates 2026/27

Thursday 27 August 2026

11.00am – 1.00pm

  • LCA students to meet Phil and Caroline in the HUB for LCA Induction Day

Friday 28th August 2026

8:30am-12 noon

All 5th Year inc LCA students remain in the yard at 8:30am to meet tutors and House Leader

Tuesday 1 September 2026

Full classes commence

  • All students return to school and follow their normal timetable.

Important Information for LCA Students

πŸ’Ό Work Experience

Work Experience is a central part of the LCA programme and students are strongly encouraged to secure a placement during the summer months.

Students will attend Work Experience every Friday throughout the academic year, gaining valuable workplace skills, confidence and experience. Students should aim to secure a placement before returning to school in August.

πŸ’³ Student Support Services Fee

The Student Support Services Fee for LCA students is €125, covering both 5th and 6th Year.

Payments should be made through VSware and can be paid by instalments. Parents/guardians experiencing difficulty with this fee should contact the Principal before students return to school in August.

The fee covers:

  • Locker
  • VS App
  • Athena Tracker
  • Pupil Insurance (2 years)
  • Mock Examinations
  • Career Guidance Trips
  • Curricular Trips
  • School Games and Match Transport

πŸ“š Schoolbooks & Resources

All LCA students will benefit from the Free Schoolbooks Scheme.

Textbooks and stationery will be available to students when they return to school in August. Please note that personal items such as pencil cases, pens, pencils and markers are not included.

πŸ’» iPads

Students should continue to use their existing school iPad throughout Senior Cycle. LCA students will require a device for this programme. There is no requirement to purchase a new device unless replacing an existing one. The school will arrange the extension of MDM licences where required.

πŸ“– LCA Subjects

Students and parents are encouraged to explore the LCA curriculum, including:

  • Hotel, Catering and Tourism
  • Graphics and Construction Studies
  • Ethics
  • Vocational Specialisms
  • Core LCA subjects

Academic Calendar 2026/27

The Academic Calendar for the 2026/27 school year is available to download below and can also be viewed on our website. It includes start-up dates, school closures, holiday periods and Parent-Teacher-Student Meeting dates. Please note that dates may be subject to change and families are encouraged to check the online version regularly throughout the year.
